Highway 401 eastbound has been shut down at Union Road due to a crash involving a straight truck and a transport truck that resulted in two individuals sustaining serious injuries. The London Fire Department reported that emergency teams arrived at the scene of the two-vehicle accident before 2 p.m. and had to extract both occupants from the straight truck. Fire officials confirmed that both individuals in the straight truck suffered severe injuries.
The driver of the transport truck sustained minor injuries and received medical evaluation by paramedics on-site. Commuters are advised to steer clear of the area and seek alternative routes as the eastbound lanes of the highway remain closed at Union Road. The reason behind the collision has not yet been disclosed.
