“Man Arrested for Attempted Murder in Charlottetown Stabbing”

A man has been arrested on charges of attempted murder after a stabbing incident on MacAleer Drive in Charlottetown. The Charlottetown Police Services reported that the event took place on October 9 at approximately 10:50 p.m.

According to Darren MacDougall, the interim police chief of Charlottetown, a confrontation among a group of men led to one individual allegedly using a knife to stab another. The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and discharged on October 10.

The suspect, now in custody, is set to appear in court later this month. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he is also accused of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Darren MacDougall mentioned that all parties involved were familiar with each other, and a prior connection among them likely triggered the escalation leading to the incident on MacAleer Drive. The investigation is ongoing, with police securing video evidence and seeking further information.

Approximately 30 minutes after the MacAleer Drive incident, another related event occurred on Herbert Street. Three individuals have been charged with offenses including possession of a dangerous weapon, causing a disturbance, and mischief. They have since been released pending further investigation.

MacDougall emphasized that both incidents involved individuals acquainted with each other, indicating no immediate risk to the public.
