“Bo Levi Mitchell Signs Two-Year Extension With Tiger-Cats”

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have agreed to a two-year contract extension with quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, securing his presence with the team until the 2028 season. This announcement was made by the CFL franchise just prior to their final game of the season against Ottawa.

After sustaining an ankle injury during a match against Winnipeg on July 5, which ended his 2026 campaign, Mitchell has been in the process of recovery. Prior to his injury, he had accumulated 1,107 passing yards, boasting a remarkable 78.2% completion rate, along with nine touchdowns and a single interception across four games.

Since Mitchell’s injury, the Tiger-Cats have struggled, posting a 3-10 record and failing to make it to the playoffs, currently standing at 5-12 entering their final game. Expressing his commitment to the team, Mitchell stated, “I love this team, this locker room, and this city. Being sidelined this year only reinforced how much I want to be out there competing with these guys. I’m close to being fully recovered, recharged, and excited about what’s ahead. I believe we have the people and the commitment to win here, and I am committed to bringing a championship back to Hamilton.”

Hailing from Katy, Texas, the 36-year-old quarterback has been a pivotal player for the Tiger-Cats since joining the team in 2023. Mitchell has been honored twice as the East Division’s Most Outstanding Player and has secured Grey Cup victories in 2014 and 2018 with the Calgary Stampeders. Additionally, he was named the CFL’s outstanding player in 2016 and 2018.

With a career total of 45,426 passing yards, ranking eighth in CFL history, Mitchell has thrown 271 touchdown passes and boasts a 112-48-2 record as a starter over his 14 seasons with Calgary and Hamilton. Orlondo Steinauer, the Ticats’ president of football operations, praised Mitchell’s work ethic and leadership, stating, “Since Bo arrived four years ago, he’s continued to work, compete, and lead at a high level. He’s been a great teammate, has earned the respect of everyone in our organization, and has embraced the Hamilton community. We’re proud to have him continue to lead us.”
