“Actress Kathleen Robertson Embraces Hamilton Roots”

Kathleen Robertson, a native of Hamilton, pursued her dream of becoming an actress despite skepticism from others due to her hometown. Starting at the age of 10 in 1985 with a role in the film “Left Out,” Robertson’s career blossomed, leading her to star in popular shows like “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

Reflecting on her Canadian upbringing, Robertson believes it kept her grounded compared to the glitz and glamour of American celebrity culture. She emphasized that in Canada, her past as a child actor was not a big deal, unlike in the U.S.

Addressing the challenges faced by former child actors, Robertson highlighted recent tragedies involving prominent figures like Hayden Panettiere, Daveigh Chase, and Michelle Trachtenberg. These untimely deaths underscored the intense pressures child actors endure as they navigate fame and expectations.

Robertson is currently working on a project close to her heart—a 10-episode medical drama set in Hamilton, inspired by her sisters’ experiences working in a local hospital. Describing it as a tribute to the city, she aims to showcase Hamilton authentically, not as a generic backdrop for other locations.

Additionally, Robertson is featured in the latest season of Amazon Prime’s “Reacher,” which partially filmed in Hamilton. Despite some crew members’ initial reluctance to embrace the city, Robertson takes pride in her roots and hopes to showcase the beauty and charm of Hamilton through her work.
