“Alberta Medical Association Approves 3-Year Pay Deal”

Members of the Alberta Medical Association have approved a proposed three-year master pay agreement with the provincial government. The details of the agreement will be disclosed by both the government and the physician’s association once it is finalized.

Dr. Heidi Fell, the association’s president, informed members that 22% of eligible members participated in the vote, with 76% of them voting in favor of the agreement. She mentioned in a letter that the agreement was not the original one sought by the association and was achieved through mediation in a challenging bargaining environment.

Despite not meeting their initial expectations, Dr. Fell highlighted that the agreement offers a three-year structure that brings stability and includes significant benefits for doctors. Hospitals Minister Adriana LaGrange expressed that the deal ensures fair and competitive compensation for physicians while also maintaining the sustainability of the healthcare system.
