Carlos Alcaraz has ended his professional relationship with Juan Carlos Ferrero after collaborating for seven years. Ferrero began coaching Alcaraz when the talented Spanish player was just 15 years old and played a pivotal role in his development into a successful player.
During their time together, Alcaraz achieved significant milestones, including winning six Grand Slam titles, attaining the top rank in the world, and securing an Olympic silver medal. Ferrero, a former world No. 1 and Grand Slam champion himself, was instrumental in guiding Alcaraz to these accomplishments.
The decision to part ways was disclosed shortly after Ferrero and Samuel Lopez were honored with the 2025 ATP Coach of the Year Award for their exceptional work with Alcaraz. This recognition marked Ferrero as the first individual to receive the award multiple times since its establishment in 2016.
Alcaraz took to social media to announce the separation, expressing gratitude for the transformative journey they shared. Despite the split, Alcaraz reflected on the valuable lessons learned and personal growth experienced under Ferrero’s guidance.
In response, Ferrero also shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, reminiscing about the shared experiences and the profound impact of their partnership. He expressed appreciation for the support, camaraderie, and growth they experienced together, acknowledging the end of a significant chapter in his life.
Alcaraz continues to be coached by Samuel Lopez, who is affiliated with Ferrero’s academy in Alicante. The specific reasons behind Ferrero’s departure from Alcaraz’s coaching team have not been publicly disclosed.
