Anthony Joshua in Nigerian Car Crash: New Photos Released

Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps has released new photos from the site of a tragic accident involving British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua. The agency has also shared detailed information about the incident, which claimed the lives of two individuals.

Anthony Joshua was hospitalized after being rescued from a wrecked SUV that was traveling on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Nigeria on Monday morning. According to reports, a blown tire caused the vehicle Joshua was in to veer off course and collide with a stationary truck.

Police in Ogun State have initiated an investigation into the accident, and the FRSC has provided an update on the matter. The organization’s post on X platform on December 29, at 2:10 pm GMT, unveiled four new images showing the damaged SUV and the truck it crashed into.

The images depict officials and witnesses at the scene, with the back of the truck covered with tape. The FRSC’s statement, spread across multiple posts, confirmed the involvement of a Lexus Jeep carrying Anthony Joshua and a stationary truck in the fatal crash.

The statement revealed that the crash occurred near Sagamu, Ogun State, resulting in two fatalities and injuries to one person, while Joshua sustained minor injuries. The injured individual was taken for medical treatment, and the deceased were transported to a local morgue.

Preliminary findings suggested that the speeding Lexus Jeep lost control during an overtaking maneuver, leading to the collision with the truck. The FRSC emphasized the dangers of excessive speed and reckless overtaking on Nigerian roads, urging motorists to adhere to traffic laws, especially on high-speed routes like the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The agency extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished Anthony Joshua a speedy recovery. Motorists were reminded to prioritize safety, avoid dangerous driving practices, and comply with traffic regulations to prevent accidents.

According to preliminary reports by the Ogun state government, the two individuals who died were foreign nationals. Anthony Joshua has not made a public statement since the accident, and his current location remains undisclosed.
