Two individuals lost their lives instantly in the tragic accident involving the SUV carrying Anthony Joshua, as reported by eyewitnesses. The British boxer sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital in Nigeria. Joshua’s vehicle, accompanied by his security team, collided with a stationary truck near Makun on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun state. The crash occurred after the vehicle swerved due to a burst tire, causing loss of control.
Local authorities, including the Ogun state traffic compliance and enforcement agency, are investigating the incident. An eyewitness, Adeniyi Orojo, recounted the details, stating that Joshua was in a Lexus SUV with three other occupants when the crash happened. Sadly, two individuals in the vehicle lost their lives at the scene.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that Joshua was on his way to the hospital following the accident. The 36-year-old boxer, who was in Nigeria, recently defeated Jake Paul in a match. Joshua, born in England but with strong ties to Nigeria, expressed his plans for the future, hinting at significant endeavors in 2026 and reigniting his rivalry with Tyson Fury in post-fight remarks on Instagram.
