Anthony Joshua Survives Car Crash, Two Lives Lost

The Ogun and Lagos State Governments issued a joint statement concerning the recent car accident involving Anthony Joshua in Nigeria. The former heavyweight boxing champion sustained minor injuries in the crash that tragically resulted in the loss of two lives.

In their official communication, the governments confirmed that Anthony Joshua was involved in a road traffic incident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The collision occurred between the vehicle carrying Joshua and three others and a stationary truck, leading to the fatalities.

Both Anthony Joshua and another passenger were swiftly taken to a specialized medical facility in Lagos. Medical evaluations confirmed their stable condition without the need for immediate emergency interventions, and a dedicated medical team is monitoring their progress closely. Joshua is conscious and in contact with his family.

The authorities are actively overseeing the situation to ensure the best medical care for those affected. Investigations into the accident’s circumstances have commenced, and public cooperation and privacy for Anthony Joshua and his family are requested during this time.

The statement was co-signed by Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Ogun State, and Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy for Lagos State.

Preliminary reports from the Federal Road Safety Corps of Nigeria revealed that the accident involved a black Lexus Jeep and a stationary red commercial Sinotruck. Out of the five adult males involved, two lost their lives, one sustained injuries, and two escaped unharmed. Anthony Joshua survived with minor injuries, and the injured individual received medical attention while the deceased were taken to Livewell Morgue, Ajaka, Sagamu.

Initial investigations suggested that the Lexus Jeep may have been speeding and lost control during an overtaking maneuver, colliding with the parked truck.
