Peel Regional Police are currently looking into a suspected case of arson involving two tow trucks that were discovered ablaze in Mississauga early Thursday morning. The incident was reported to emergency services around 3:25 a.m. near the intersection of Dixie Road and Shawson Drive, according to acting Sgt. Amanda Steenson of the Peel police. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found two flatbed tow trucks completely engulfed in flames at the location. Mississauga Fire officials were able to successfully extinguish the fires, as confirmed by Mississauga Fire to CBC News.
The authorities are treating the incident as a potential act of arson, mentioned Steenson, clarifying that there have been no injuries reported so far, and no details regarding potential suspects. Steenson encouraged individuals who may have witnessed the event or have any relevant footage to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the police.
While Peel police are actively probing the matter, Mississauga Fire indicated that they are not directly involved in the investigation, and there has been no request for the assistance of the Office of the Fire Marshal at this stage.
