“Beauty Bay Faces Collapse as Administrators Consider Takeover”

Online retailer Beauty Bay is facing potential collapse following the submission of a notice of intention to appoint administrators. This action initiates a legal freeze, preventing creditors from taking legal action for a ten-day period.

According to reports from Sky News, the notice was lodged earlier this week, coinciding with Beauty Bay’s decision to take down its website, displaying a message stating, “We’ll Be Back Soon. BEAUTY BAY is offline right now, we’ll be back shortly.”

Established in 1999 by Arron and David Gabbie in Manchester, Beauty Bay features a diverse range of over 200 brands on its platform, including popular names like Ariana Grande, Clinique, MAC, and its own product line.

The company’s financial struggles come after previous indications that Beauty Bay was exploring various funding options, potentially involving a complete sale of the business.

Interpath, an advisory firm, has been working closely with Beauty Bay to conduct a comprehensive business review. The company, which employs 65 individuals, has yet to provide a public statement on the matter.

In a related development, fashion retailer Quiz recently entered administration, resulting in the loss of 109 jobs. The redundancies primarily affect Quiz’s head office in Glasgow and warehouse in Lanarkshire. The company’s website has been deactivated, and customers with pending online orders are advised that these will be canceled.

Quiz is directing customers seeking refunds to contact their banks or credit card companies for reimbursement. Options such as Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act or Chargeback may be available depending on the payment method used.

Despite these challenges, Quiz continues to operate its physical stores, offering stock clearance sales across all locations. Notably, gift cards are no longer being accepted by the retailer.

With 40 stores across the UK and concessions in New Look and Matalan outlets, Quiz’s concessions within these partners’ stores are not impacted by the administration proceedings.
