“Bend Bar and Offsales Set to Transform Whistle Bend”

A new establishment is preparing to launch in the rapidly expanding Whistle Bend neighborhood of Whitehorse, drawing positive reactions from local residents. Bend Bar and Offsales, located on Keno Way, will be the inaugural bar and eatery in the area. Co-owned by Sukhan Brar, Harjot Brar, and Kuljeet Brar, the venue aims to create a cozy and friendly atmosphere, positioning itself as a community hub rather than just a family-owned enterprise.

The bar is designed to accommodate approximately 39 patrons at a time and will provide off-sales services for alcohol. The menu will feature pub-style dishes like chicken wings, fries, onion rings, and pizza, infused with some Indian-inspired flavors. Live music performances are also planned for weekends, adding to the overall ambiance.

With Whistle Bend’s population surpassing that of Watson Lake and Dawson City combined, the demand for local amenities is on the rise. The area currently lacks nearby dining options, with residents having to travel to the neighboring Porter Creek neighborhood for restaurants and stores. While some locals have expressed a preference for other types of businesses, like convenience or grocery stores, the general sentiment remains positive towards the incoming establishment.

Residents like Richard Pearce and Marc-André Gelinas see the addition of Bend Bar as a welcomed convenience, reducing the need to commute downtown for everyday needs. Despite comparisons to existing venues like Whiskey Jacks Pub and Grill in Porter Creek, expectations are high for Bend Bar’s success in meeting the community’s desires for accessible services closer to home.
