Search teams have located the body of a young boy who was reported missing in Clyde River after an extensive search that lasted more than a week, as confirmed by the town’s mayor. The incident occurred on August 6, when two teenagers were drifting on separate makeshift rafts and were swept farther into the bay by the strong current. One of them fell into the water and did not resurface as neither of them was wearing a life jacket, as stated by the RCMP in a previous announcement.
Mayor Liemikie Palluq of Clyde River announced on Friday morning that the body was discovered around 5 p.m. on Thursday evening. The body was found on the opposite side of the bay from where the boy first went into the water. Despite requests from CBC for additional details, the RCMP has not provided any further information at this time.
