A body has been recovered from a river in Wales following a rescue operation involving South Wales Police, fire crews, ambulance services, coastguard, and RNLI lifeboats. The incident took place near Quay Parade in Swansea at around 7:40 am on Thursday. Divers assisting in the search located the body before 1:30 pm, with formal identification pending.
Authorities were alerted to a person entering the River Tawe at Quay Parade in Swansea at approximately 7:50 am on the same day. Emergency services including Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, RNLI, and the coastguard were also present at the scene. The Welsh Ambulance Service dispatched a hazardous area response team to assist in the operation.
RNLI lifeboats were launched to aid in the search for the individual who had reportedly entered the water. The Mumbles Lifeboat RNLI detailed their involvement on Facebook, mentioning the coordinated efforts with HM Coastguard, South Wales Police, and the fire service in the search operation.
In a separate incident last month on October 14, emergency services responded to a similar incident along the River Tawe where a 46-year-old individual entered the water. This individual was subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act and transported to a hospital for further evaluation.
