“Break-ins Plague Inuvik Food Truck, Owners Seek Justice”

Operators of a mobile food vendor in Inuvik have reported a series of break-ins, resulting in significant financial losses. The Amaruq food truck, which has been serving sandwiches, fries, all-day breakfast, and other specialties for over a year, is owned by Dustin Smith and Kieran Seaward. The truck has been stationed outside the Anglican church since the summer.

A recent social media post by Amaruq featured a video showing an individual kicking their sign off the sidewalk after hours. Smith expressed dismay at the repeated break-ins, noting that the perpetrators have consistently emptied their freezer, causing an estimated loss of $2,000 worth of frozen goods each time.

Smith expressed confusion as to why their business has been repeatedly targeted, describing the situation as distressing given the hard work they have put into establishing the food truck. Eliza Firth, who runs a nearby craft store, voiced support for Smith and Seaward, expressing concern over the situation and urging anyone with information to come forward.

The Inuvik RCMP confirmed that they are investigating the four incidents, utilizing the camera footage provided by the food truck. They have encouraged individuals with relevant information to contact the detachment for assistance.
