“Bulgaria Tops List for Affordable Family Summer Vacations”

Bulgaria has been identified as the top choice for an affordable summer vacation for families this year. According to TravelSupermarket, Bulgaria offers the best value with an average cost of £760 per person for a week-long, all-inclusive stay. Following Bulgaria, Morocco ranked second with an average of £852 per person, while Malta came in third at £862.

The data, gathered from family holiday searches between October 5 last year and last week for travel between May and September 2026, highlighted significant price variations among popular destinations. Bulgaria saw a reduction of £54 per person, or 7%, compared to last summer, making it the most budget-friendly option. Conversely, Cyprus emerged as the most expensive destination, costing £1,186 per person.

Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, held the fourth spot on the list with an average cost of £888 per person, similar to prices from the previous year. Turkey ranked 11th at £1,057, with Greece following closely in 12th place at £1,096. Croatia was noted as the 10th cheapest destination this summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person, reflecting a 12% decrease from the previous year.

For long-haul options, TravelSupermarket highlighted Cape Verde as the best value at £1,247 per person, with the United Arab Emirates at £1,297, the Dominican Republic at £1,664, and Mexico at £1,694.

Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, expressed optimism about Bulgaria’s affordability, mentioning that Tunisia and Morocco also continue to offer excellent value. The price drop in Croatia is seen as positive news for families who were concerned about affordability in the Euro-adopting country.
