“Calgary Police Seize $1M Cash, $1.2M Drugs in Major Bust”

The ALERT Calgary organized crime task force has apprehended two individuals and confiscated over $1 million in cash, in addition to drugs valued at around $1.2 million, authorities disclosed. On July 30, officers conducted a search at a residence in the Skyview area of Calgary, resulting in the recovery of cash, drugs, and the arrest of two individuals. This cash seizure, exceeding $1 million, marks the largest amount ever recovered at one time by the ALERT’s Calgary organized crime unit, as stated in a police report released on Wednesday. In addition to the cash, law enforcement discovered various drugs, including an estimated 3,000 grams of suspected fentanyl, 7,000 grams of suspected MDMA, 2,000 grams of methamphetamine, 500 grams of cocaine, and 500 grams of cannabis. Furthermore, police carried out searches at residences in Harvest Hills and Rocky Ridge, as well as on two vehicles. The seizure is linked to a previous ALERT Lethbridge investigation from May, where nearly four kilograms of cocaine were found, ultimately traced back to a supplier based in Calgary, the police revealed. Two individuals, aged 36 and 51, have been charged with possession of drugs for trafficking purposes, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
