A man cycling on Upper Centennial Parkway in Hamilton, Ont., was fatally hit on Saturday night, as confirmed by the city’s police department. Responding to a call about a cyclist being struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes near Green Mountain Road just after 11 p.m., emergency services arrived at the scene. The cyclist, who was also heading north, was declared dead on-site, with the police refraining from disclosing his identity or age.
The investigation into the incident is being spearheaded by the Hamilton Police Service collision reconstruction unit. To facilitate the investigation, the parkway was shut down between Ridge and Green Mountain roads for a few hours. The authorities mentioned that neither alcohol nor speed were suspected to have played a role in the collision and urged individuals possessing information or footage from cameras to come forward.
