One individual has succumbed, and another is severely wounded following a head-on collision involving a pickup truck and a commercial truck in Crapaud on Wednesday. P.E.I. RCMP reported in a news release on Thursday that the incident occurred on Route 1, close to the Route 13 junction, around 5 p.m. According to the release, initial findings suggest that the commercial truck veered across the center line into the path of the pickup truck. A 63-year-old man from Ontario was declared deceased at the scene, while a woman sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The sole occupant of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries. Authorities stated that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have played a role in the crash, and investigations are ongoing. Emergency responders from the Crapaud Fire Department and Island EMS were present at the site. The road remained shut down for several hours as a collision reconstruction specialist examined the area.
