A fatal hit and run incident near Sackville earlier this month has resulted in the death of a pedestrian, according to the RCMP. The victim, a 51-year-old man from Shediac, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital on August 6 after authorities received reports of the incident along Route 2 near the Walker Road intersection around 5 a.m. The man, who was carrying two bags and dressed in dark clothing, including a black hoodie, passed away, as announced by the RCMP in a recent update.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have been in the area between Amherst, N.S., and Sackville from 6 p.m. on August 5 to 5 a.m. on August 6 and has relevant information to get in touch with the New Brunswick RCMP. The RCMP noted that the pedestrian was discovered in a construction zone, although no construction activities were taking place at that location during the incident.
