Ontario’s police oversight agency is conducting an investigation following a fatal crash that occurred in Windsor over the weekend. The incident took place at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday when law enforcement tried to pull over a vehicle in the vicinity of St. Luke Road and Seminole Street. The driver failed to stop and subsequently collided with multiple vehicles a short distance away, resulting in one fatality.
As a result of the crash, sections of Seminole between Walker Road and Albert Road, as well as St. Luke between Reginald Street and Metcalfe Street, were temporarily closed off. The Special Investigations Unit, an independent civilian law enforcement body, is responsible for conducting inquiries into incidents involving both police officers and civilians that have led to severe injuries, fatalities, or allegations of sexual assault.
