Ottawa authorities are treating a fire that caused significant damage to a residence on Moonbeam Street in Barrhaven early Saturday as suspicious. Firefighters received the call to the neighborhood east of Borrisokane Road at approximately 2:45 a.m., discovering heavy smoke emanating from the first floor of the house. It took around two hours to bring the blaze under control, with firefighters having to temporarily evacuate the premises due to perilous conditions.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the single-family home. The Ottawa police, in conjunction with the fire marshal’s office and firefighters, have initiated an investigation through the arson and explosion unit. They are urging individuals with any relevant information or video footage to reach out to the investigative unit or Crime Stoppers.
