“Former Harrods PR Manager Among Victims of Patagonia Snowstorm”

A former employee of Harrods from Britain, who also worked in public relations, was one of the unfortunate victims in a severe snowstorm while hiking in Patagonia. Victoria Bond, reportedly in her 30s, tragically lost her life in the Torres del Paine nature reserve in Chile. The adverse weather conditions, comparable to a Category 3 hurricane, caused nine tourists to go missing, with Victoria and four others perishing on Monday. A search team of over 20 individuals was dispatched to locate the missing travelers, who were stranded near the Los Perros camp, a location about a four-to five-hour hike from the nearest accessible point by vehicle, as confirmed by José Antonio Ruiz, the presidential delegate of Magallanes.

Victoria was participating in the Paine Massif Circuit, also known as the O Circuit, when the group encountered the blizzard. She had a successful career as a PR manager for Visit Isles of Scilly in Cornwall, specializing in travel and lifestyle communications, as indicated on her LinkedIn profile. Before this role, she worked as a fine jewelry and watch PR executive at Harrods and as a freelance fashion assistant at Conde Nast, contributing to publications like Vogue China, GQ, Italian Vanity Fair, and Vogue Bambino.

Known for sharing her global travels on social media, Victoria had visited various destinations in the past year, including Athens, Barbados, and Costa Rica, documenting her experiences. Chilean President Gabriel Boric expressed condolences to the families of the victims, including the two Mexicans identified as Cristina Calvillo Tovar and Julian Garcia Pimentel, as well as the two Germans named Nadine Lichey and Andreas Von Pein, who also lost their lives in the tragic incident.

An FCDO Spokesperson stated that they are providing assistance to the family of the deceased British woman and are in contact with the local authorities.
