Formula One Cancels Bahrain and Saudi Grand Prix

Formula One is expected to call off the upcoming Grand Prix events in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to the ongoing conflict in the region. These two races were originally planned for April as part of the 2026 season. The Bahrain GP was set for April 10-12, followed by the Saudi Arabian race in Jeddah.

Due to recent developments involving Iran and the conflicts with the USA and Israel, the decision has been made to cancel both races, reducing the season’s race count from 24 to 22 as reported by Sky Sports. As of now, both Formula One (F1) and the FIA have not issued official statements regarding this matter.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed concerns on social media, emphasizing the importance of safety and well-being in evaluating future events in the region. He conveyed solidarity with affected families and communities, hoping for peace and stability to return swiftly.

Peter Bayer, the chief executive of Racing Bulls, acknowledged the situation in the Middle East but emphasized the team’s immediate focus. With the cancellation of both races, there will be no Formula One action in April, leading to a five-week gap until the Miami GP in early May.

Meanwhile, in Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix, British driver George Russell is poised to start on pole for the upcoming Sprint race. Mercedes’ George Russell leads the driver standings with 25 points, while teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli follows closely in second place.

Sky has recently enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, including additional streaming services like HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, and more, along with comprehensive coverage of Formula 1. Sky remains the go-to platform for exclusive Formula One coverage, showcasing practice sessions, qualifiers, and races throughout the season, in addition to other sports events.
