“Fury vs Joshua: Heavyweight Showdown Officially Signed”

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have reportedly reached an agreement to face off in an anticipated heavyweight battle, with key details now disclosed.

Initial reports in December hinted at the resolution of their long-standing rivalry inside the boxing ring in 2026. However, shortly after his impressive victory over Jake Paul this past holiday season, Joshua encountered a tragic car accident in Nigeria, leading to the unfortunate passing of his close associates, Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele.

Despite concerns about Joshua’s future in boxing following the near-death incident, the former two-time heavyweight champion is now back in light training and contemplating a potential comeback to the ring this summer. Speculation suggests that Joshua may first face former rival Dillian Whyte before pursuing a showdown with Fury.

According to boxing journalist Gareth A Davies, both Fury and Joshua have formally agreed to the bout. Davies confirmed on talkSPORT that the fight has been ‘signed’ and ‘agreed’ behind the scenes. He stated, “The Fury-Joshua fight is signed. Okay, it is signed in the background. I’ve got that on good authority.”

Davies also indicated that the event is likely to be broadcast live on Netflix, with tentative scheduling for either late this year or early next year. Joshua is expected to make his return to the ring around June or July. Davies added, “It’s with the big money people. It’ll be on Netflix. It’s on the cards and it’s going to happen.”

Netflix is set to showcase Fury’s comeback on April 11. Despite announcing a brief retirement from boxing last year, Fury is preparing to face Russian knockout artist Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The streaming platform has become a prominent force in boxing, featuring matches like Paul vs Joshua, Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford, Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano, and Paul vs Mike Tyson.

Joshua is nearing a full training return for a potential ring comeback later in the year. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, affirmed that the much-anticipated British heavyweight clash between Fury and Joshua remains a possibility despite the recent challenges.

Hearn mentioned, “Originally the plan with AJ was for him to fight in March and then face Tyson Fury in August. He’s not ready to fight Fury yet; he’s expected to return in late summer. We are open to the Tyson Fury fight, possibly towards the end of this year or early next year.”
