“GO Trains Canceled in Hamilton for Track Upgrades”

Metrolinx has announced the cancellation of GO Trains starting or ending at Hamilton’s Confederation and West Harbour stations this weekend due to track upgrades on the Lakeshore West train line. On Saturday and Sunday, regular service on the Lakeshore West line will only operate between Niagara Falls and Aldershot GO stations, and between Oakville and Union stations, with no service between Aldershot and Oakville.

In place of the trains, replacement GO buses will be available this weekend, making stops at West Harbour, Aldershot, Burlington, and Oakville GO stations for passengers to connect to trains. Notably, the buses will not stop at Appleby or Bronte GO stations, with limited early morning and late evening service for those stations during the weekend.

Metrolinx emphasized that these track closures are necessary for essential improvements to facilitate faster and more frequent GO service as part of the GO expansion initiative. Additionally, minor late-night service adjustments will be in effect on Friday, and train schedules will vary slightly on Monday, returning to regular service on Tuesday.

The agency advised travelers to plan ahead and review schedules before their journeys to account for the changes.
