Many municipal services in Hamilton have adjusted their schedules for Labour Day, resulting in several closures. Residents should take note of the following changes in Hamilton:
**Closed Municipal Services:**
– City hall
– Hamilton’s Accessible Transportation Services and HSR customer services will be closed for the weekend, except for HSR’s phone line, which will remain operational during the holiday
– Housing Services Office
– Provincial Offences Court
– Public libraries (including Sunday on Labour Day weekend)
– Public museums
– Farmers’ market in Jackson Square
– Recreation centres and arenas
– Animal Services office and shelter
– Seniors centres
– Tropical Greenhouse at Gage Park
– Ontario Works program
**Health Services:**
– Alcohol, Drug and Gambling services
– Child and Adolescent Services, including the walk-in clinic
– Special Supports program
– Public Health administrative offices and dental clinics
– Van Needle Syringe evening program needle
**Municipal Phone Lines:**
– Health Connections
– Licensing and By-Law Services
– Public Health’s vaccine and records phone line
**Hamilton Parking and Transit:**
Regular parking enforcement officers in Hamilton will be on hold from 10 p.m. on September 6 to 10 p.m. on September 7, except for special events and areas of interest. On Monday, HSR, Waterdown’s MyRide, and Trans-Cab will operate on a Sunday schedule, with HSR’s last departures around midnight. Route 12 Wentworth and 42 Mohawk East will have no HSR service, and the last departures will be at midnight. DARTS specialized transit service will cancel subscription trips, except for dialysis passengers, requesting advance booking for Monday trips.
**Grocery and Liquor Stores:**
Most supermarkets such as FreshCo, Sobeys, CostCo, and Fortinos will be closed on Labour Day. However, residents can still visit Nations Fresh Food, an ethnic grocery store, for essential grocery shopping. LCBO locations in Hamilton will also be closed in compliance with Ontario’s Retail Business Holidays Act.
**Waste and Mail Collection:**
Waste collection will be postponed to the following day for residents due for collection on Monday. Transfer stations and community recycling centres will be closed. Canada Post and UPS stores will also be closed on Labour Day.
