A woman who is married and facing charges for groping a teenager has revealed the disturbing reason behind her actions towards a man nearly two decades younger than her in a hotel sauna.
The 38-year-old woman, originally from Brazil, was 37 at the time of the incident. She admitted to grabbing the 18-year-old’s genitals in the sauna of the upscale Martinique Hotel in Magaluf because she was feeling sexually aroused.
She mistakenly believed that the young man was showing interest in her and engaging in flirtatious behavior. However, she misread the situation and ended up embarrassing herself by inappropriately touching him, leaving him visibly upset.
The woman, who remains unnamed, is now facing a potential two-year prison sentence for the assault on the Swedish teen. Prosecutors are seeking a jail term of one-and-a-half years if she is found guilty, along with a request for her to pay £440 in compensation to the victim for the alleged trauma. Additionally, they are pushing for a two-year ban on her working with minors post-release and for her to cover court costs if convicted.
According to reports, the incident occurred while the woman was on vacation with her husband. Witnesses at the hotel claim she initiated a conversation with the Swedish man in the sauna on June 3, followed him into the Turkish steam bath, and made unwanted advances towards him without his consent.
The victim stated that he repeatedly said “no” before leaving and informing the hotel staff, who promptly intervened and handed the woman over to the authorities.
In her court testimony, the woman admitted to her actions, citing feeling aroused and a misunderstanding of the situation. She expressed immediate regret and embarrassment over the incident. Following her arrest, she was released on bail and has since returned to Ireland.
Her defense attorney, Joan Arbos, known in Palma, had initially planned to request the case’s dismissal, arguing that no criminal offense had occurred. However, law enforcement officials confirmed the allegations of unwanted sexual contact and arrested the woman based on the victim’s distress.
