A woman employed as a housekeeper is facing legal charges following an alleged burglary just north of Calgary last month, as indicated by the RCMP. The incident occurred on September 18 in Carstairs, situated approximately 55 kilometers north of Calgary. The homeowners reported that their residence had been unlawfully accessed while they were absent, resulting in the theft of valuable items such as gold and silver.
Through the examination of surveillance footage obtained from a neighboring establishment, law enforcement identified the suspect as a 69-year-old housekeeper residing in the nearby town of Didsbury. Allegations suggest that the woman pawned off the stolen gold and silver items, generating around $87,000 from the transactions. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at her residence in Didsbury, leading to the discovery of identity papers and illicit tobacco.
The accused is now confronted with six charges, including break and enter, theft exceeding $5,000, property damage under $5,000, and possession of untaxed tobacco with the intent to distribute. A court appearance in Didsbury is scheduled for October 19.
This individual had previously faced theft charges related to an incident on August 3 at a rural property in Mountain View County. During that episode, she was accused of stealing belongings from a household where she was employed as a housekeeper, reportedly removing the property’s security camera. Following her arrest, her vehicle was impounded, and the stolen goods were retrieved. At the time, she was identified as a resident of Cremona, a town in central Alberta, and was charged with theft below $5,000 and unauthorized entry into a dwelling.
