Striker Cyle Larin and winger Tajon Buchanan have departed from the Canadian men’s soccer team due to injuries. Canada Soccer disclosed that Larin encountered back discomfort prior to the national team’s friendly match against Peru on Saturday. Larin participated in the team’s 1-0 triumph over Chile on September 26.
On the other hand, Buchanan sustained a lower-body injury following a challenge from a Peruvian defender during Canada’s 2-0 victory in Montreal. Larin has headed back to Southampton in the English Championship, while Buchanan is returning to La Liga’s Villarreal. Both players will undergo evaluations by their respective club teams.
In response to the injuries, head coach Jesse Marsch has summoned Major League Soccer forwards Marcus Caldeira from Minnesota United and Theo Corbeanu from Toronto FC to complete the team roster. Canada’s international window will conclude on Tuesday with a friendly match against the United States in St. Paul, Minnesota.
