Inuvik Man Charged with Murder in Sandhu Case

An individual from Inuvik has been taken into custody and is now facing a murder charge following the disappearance of Jovan Sandhu, aged 27, several months ago. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced the arrest of Waylon Storr, aged 40, in a press release issued on Tuesday. Storr has been charged with murder in connection to the case of Sandhu’s disappearance.

The last known sighting of Sandhu was on August 7 at the Tsiigehtchic ferry crossing, with his disappearance being reported on August 9. Shortly after the authorities appealed for information about Sandhu’s whereabouts as a missing person, a joint effort involving the police and local search and rescue teams was launched to conduct a thorough search operation. This operation was conducted based on the belief that Sandhu’s body might be located in the Mackenzie River vicinity near Fort McPherson and Tsiigehtchic, although his remains were never located.

According to the press release, the investigators from the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit gathered sufficient evidence to support the murder charge against Storr. Storr was taken into custody on October 16 and is set to make a court appearance in Yellowknife on Tuesday.
