Justin Rose Eyes Career Grand Slam After Record-Breaking Win

Justin Rose expressed his aspiration to achieve a career Grand Slam after setting a new scoring record to clinch victory at the Farmers Insurance Open, surpassing Tiger Woods. The 45-year-old golf star also indicated that he is not yet considering taking on the role of the next European Ryder Cup captain if Luke Donald opts out of standing again in 2027.

“I still believe there’s good stuff in front of me,” stated the current world No.3.

Rose’s impressive performance included an opening round of 62, securing a wire-to-wire victory at Torrey Pines with a score of 23-under 265. His record-breaking finish outshined Tiger Woods’ and George Burns’ previous performances at the same venue.

After acknowledging his accomplishment to US TV, Rose reflected on his recent successes, highlighting his improved tee-to-green play and mental resilience. With 13 tour titles under his belt, including wins at prestigious courses like Muirfield Village and Pebble Beach, Rose remains focused on pursuing further achievements in major championships.

“Majors is where I have my attention, for sure,” Rose emphasized. “The dream of winning all four was obviously the ultimate goal since I’ve been a kid. It seems a long way off to think that way, but if you think about some of the results I’ve had in the last year or 18 months, I’m not that far away so may as well keep believing.”

While fellow golfer Brooks Koepka returned to the PGA Tour, finishing tied for 56th place, Rose declined an opportunity from the LIV Golf league, emphasizing his commitment to playing against the best competition on both the European Tour and the PGA TOUR.

“I want to play the best players in the world. That is what keeps me motivated, what keeps me hungry, what keeps me pushing,” Rose affirmed. “None of that excited me I don’t think really. And none of it gave me access to what I wanted to achieve.”
