“Mother Arrested for Drowning 5-Week-Old Baby in France”

A 31-year-old woman was taken into custody by authorities after allegedly drowning her five-week-old infant following a dispute with the baby’s father. The tragic incident occurred in Bayeux, France, where the mother and father had a heated argument at their residence, leading to the mother drowning the newborn in a bathtub on November 14. After the confrontation, the father left to calm down, and upon his return, he discovered the baby deceased, and the mother missing.

Law enforcement officers quickly located the mother in the streets and apprehended her. She reportedly admitted to the crime. The woman is expected to face murder charges and is scheduled to appear before a judge in Caen. Due to being under guardianship, her identity has been kept confidential.

The deputy mayor of the small town expressed shock over the tragic event, emphasizing the rarity of such incidents in the community. This heartbreaking incident comes in the wake of another mother’s arrest in the US after her baby died when left in a hot vehicle outside a car dealership where she was employed. The mother, Nyla Simmons, faces charges of second-degree murder and cruelty to children in connection with the infant’s death. She is currently in custody at Lee County Jail without bond.
