“NHS Trainee Convicted of Sexual Assault at Welsh Hospital”

An NHS employee has been convicted of sexually assaulting two patients at a hospital in Wales. Ieuan Crump, aged 27, was employed as a trainee health worker at the Grange Hospital in Cwmbran in August 2021 when he committed the assaults on separate occasions with different patients.

During the trial at Cardiff Crown Court, one victim testified that Crump sexually assaulted her with his finger while a female health worker was present attempting to insert a catheter. Crump later returned alone, claiming to check for swelling before repeating the assault. The second victim reported that Crump touched her genitals during a bladder scan and inquired about any discomfort.

Despite denying the allegations, Crump was found guilty of nine counts of sexual assault, including three for assault by penetration. Judge Vanessa Francis granted Crump bail until his sentencing, where she indicated he would likely receive a substantial prison term.

Crump is required to register as a sex offender on an interim basis until his sentencing scheduled for December 18th, as reported by Wales Online.
