“Nomadic Couple Finds Unexpected Home in Labrador”

A couple from Ontario, Alannah MacLean and Kyle Heddle, decided to embrace a nomadic lifestyle by traveling across North America in a custom van. Accompanied by their dog Diesel, they found themselves captivated by the allure of Labrador, extending their stay longer than anticipated due to the welcoming locals and the unique experiences the region offered.

MacLean expressed their initial surprise at staying in Labrador for almost a month, attributing it to the warmth of the people they encountered and the insights gained about life in the area. Their exploration journey, which they share on their YouTube channel “Way of the Roads,” features stunning aerial views captured with a drone, showcasing their adventures in various provinces like Newfoundland and Labrador.

The couple’s recent videos highlight their escapades in Newfoundland and Labrador, including visits to picturesque locales such as Bell Island, the Baccalieu Trail, Gros Morne, and the abandoned theme park Trinity Loop. In their Labrador episodes, they interacted with icebergs, wildlife, and traversed the Trans-Labrador Highway, documenting their encounters for their 23,000 YouTube subscribers across 138 videos.

Having met at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, MacLean and Heddle’s relationship blossomed through shared outdoor activities during lockdown. Their mutual love for the outdoors eventually led them to embark on a journey of exploration, which they now share with a growing online audience.

Reflecting on their experiences, Heddle expressed their profound enjoyment of the lifestyle they have chosen, emphasizing their deep appreciation for the natural beauty and adventures they encounter on their travels.
