The City of Ottawa has issued a caution for motorists to seek alternative routes on Friday afternoon due to a watermain break that has led to the closure of a section of Riverside Drive between Tremblay Road and Industrial Avenue, situated just south of the Highway 417 interchange. At late Friday afternoon, both northbound lanes and one southbound lane on Riverside Drive remained shut down.
In the vicinity of the watermain break, a sinkhole equivalent to the width of one lane has emerged. City officials have advised drivers to anticipate significant delays as emergency crews work to address the watermain rupture. Police and city maintenance teams were observed near the broken watermain on Riverside Drive.
