Prince Albert city police have apprehended a man and are currently seeking two additional men and a woman following the theft of RCMP equipment from a secured hotel room in the early hours of Wednesday. The stolen items included an RCMP service pistol, several magazines, a baton, pepper spray, a grey RCMP shirt, and other personal belongings belonging to a Saskatchewan RCMP officer.
Additionally, a conducted energy weapon, a police duty jacket, a vest, a body-worn camera, and a radio were reported missing but later recovered through an RCMP ground search near the hotel premises on 38th Street West. Notably, the pistol, conducted energy weapon, cartridges, baton, and spray were all stored in a secured box.
Authorities determined that the theft was carried out by three men and one woman who unlawfully accessed the unoccupied room where the equipment was securely stored. City police are collaborating with the RCMP to track down the stolen equipment and ensure its safe return.
