Quebec Ranks Among Happiest Places in the World, Surpassing Canada in Happiness Levels
What leads to happiness? The World Happiness Report provides intriguing insights. Contrary to common belief, the happiest individuals are not necessarily those relaxing on a sunny beach with a drink. Nordic nations, except for Costa Rica, consistently rank among the top five happiest countries, with Finland currently holding the lead.
According to the World Happiness Report, based on surveys conducted between 2023 and 2025 in 147 countries with around 1,000 participants per country, these nations are known for their high taxation rates and cold climates. Canada, on the other hand, was placed 25th in the latest report.
However, an analysis by one of the report’s authors revealed that if Quebec were considered a separate entity, it would rank fifth globally in happiness, surpassing not only the rest of Canada but also many other advanced economies. Stats Canada’s data also supports this claim, stating that Quebec boasts the highest life satisfaction levels in Canada.
In a video created for the CBC Creator Network, experts studying happiness and Quebec residents share insights on why Quebec stands out in happiness rankings.
