Ronnie O’Sullivan Opens Up About Self-Doubt After World Open Defeat

Ronnie O’Sullivan recently spoke about his struggles with self-doubt following his defeat in the final of the World Open to Thepchaiya Un-Nooh. Despite initially leading 4-0, O’Sullivan was outplayed by his opponent, who staged a remarkable comeback with a 147-break and three consecutive centuries to secure victory.

After losing to Un-Nooh, O’Sullivan, who had previously defeated world No.1 Judd Trump, missed out on the £175,000 prize and opted out of the Tour Championship in Manchester. Instead, he is now focusing on preparing for the upcoming Snooker World Championship scheduled to begin on April 18 at the Crucible in Sheffield.

Expressing his current mindset, O’Sullivan acknowledged his recent struggles on the table, emphasizing the need to take each day as it comes and focus on improving his game. Despite his technical challenges, O’Sullivan praised Un-Nooh for his exceptional performance and admitted that his own game fell short during the match.

Reflecting on the defeat, O’Sullivan remains optimistic about his future in the sport, acknowledging the need for improvement and a renewed focus on his game. Despite not winning a ranking title since January 2024, O’Sullivan remains determined to overcome his setbacks and return to top form in the upcoming tournaments.
