A missile strike originating from Russia resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals in a town within Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, as reported by Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, which targeted a bustling area in Pechenihy, Kharkiv region, containing essential facilities and surrounded by residential structures. Images shared by Zelenskyy depicted a ravaged building, vehicles ablaze, and emergency personnel aiding injured victims.
Zelenskyy vowed a retaliatory response to the Russian assault, with 17 individuals sustaining injuries during the incident, according to Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the affected region. The strike caused damage to multiple private residences, a café, a post office, a store, and approximately seven vehicles. Although Russia had not issued a public statement regarding the attack, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office indicated that Russia employed two small Banderol cruise missiles during the assault.
Local sources revealed that the missile strikes struck the heart of the village, impacting key establishments such as the café, post office, and local shops. Concurrently, Ukraine executed a significant drone offensive by deploying 620 drones to Moscow and its environs early on Tuesday, marking one of Kyiv’s most extensive aerial offensives against the region. Russian forces intercepted 180 drones over Moscow, leading to emergency response efforts at crash sites.
The drones targeted various facilities near Moscow, including a warehouse belonging to the Russian e-commerce company Wildberries. Furthermore, regions under Russian control, including Crimea, reported substantial drone attacks from Ukraine. Consequently, power disruptions were reported in affected areas, leading to challenges in power supply distribution across multiple regions.
In response to British involvement in supplying drones to Ukraine for cross-border strikes, Russia issued a warning to Britain, insinuating looming consequences. The Russian embassy in London emphasized potential repercussions for Britain’s active support of Ukraine in the conflict. Despite these developments, Britain’s Defence Ministry refrained from confirming the utilization of British drones in the attacks. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to assisting Ukraine in defending against Russia’s incursion by providing necessary equipment. In line with this commitment, Britain pledged to deliver 150,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a substantial funding package.
