A collision involving a school bus and a gravel truck resulted in two individuals being hospitalized on Wednesday morning, with one person sustaining life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. north of Stratford at the junction of Line 39 and Road 125.
Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in conjunction with local fire and paramedic services, responded to the scene. According to a statement from the OPP later that Wednesday, the bus driver suffered serious injuries, while an adult passenger’s injuries were deemed life-threatening. Both individuals were transported to a medical facility for treatment, while the gravel truck driver sustained minor injuries.
Fortunately, no children were aboard the bus at the time of the crash. As a result of the incident, Line 39 is closed between Road 130 and Road 122, and Road 125 is closed between Line 42 and Line 36. The closures are anticipated to last for several hours during the ongoing investigation, and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes.
Authorities are appealing for any information related to the collision, including video footage from surveillance cameras or dash cameras, to be shared with the Perth County OPP.
