“Search for Missing Air Ambulance Near Nantucket Continues”

U.S. Coast Guard officials are set to give an update on Sunday morning regarding the search for an Ontario air ambulance jet that disappeared near Nantucket, Massachusetts. Search teams have uncovered a “debris field” confirmed to be from the missing aircraft, as stated in a Coast Guard news release on Saturday. The search for the six individuals on board, including four Canadians and two Bermudians, continued throughout the night.

The Coast Guard will provide updates on the search during a news conference scheduled for 11 a.m. ET on Sunday from its Boston base. The Gulfstream G100 jet departed from Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport at 11:41 p.m. ET on Friday and was supposed to land at Boston Logan International Airport around 1:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, according to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The jet with registration C-GRJP belongs to Latitude Air Ambulance, a company based in Ontario operating from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport.

After 27 hours of searching, the Coast Guard reported covering over 4,250 square kilometers. Following the disappearance, an air traffic controller at a New York control center communicated with the jet’s pilots, inquiring if they were experiencing any emergency situation. Subsequent attempts to establish contact with the jet were unsuccessful, prompting the controller to seek assistance from other aircraft in the vicinity.
