“SeatGeek Canada Hit With New Fines for Ticket Resale Violations”

SeatGeek Canada has recently been slapped with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a new law that restricts the resale of event tickets above face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the fines imposed on the ticket reselling platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.

The first fine, totaling $15,000, was issued for purportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its resale above the mandated price limit. The second penalty, amounting to $7,500, was for allegedly not disclosing the full ticket price when a purchase was made from an original seller.

Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has promptly responded to inquiries regarding the specific events associated with the fines or whether the reseller intends to contest the penalties. In a similar vein, the province had previously levied fines of $25,000 against the company in August for comparable infractions.
