Canada’s Sophia Jensen secured her first-ever world championship title on Saturday at the 2026 ICF Canoe Sprint & Paracanoe World Championships held in Poznań, Poland. The 24-year-old athlete from Chelsea, Que., clinched the gold medal in the women’s C1 500-meter final.
Adding to Canada’s success, Brianna Hennessy from Ottawa claimed a bronze medal in the KL1 women’s 200m final on the same day. The competition is being broadcast live on CBCSports.ca and CBC Gem, with Sunday’s schedule including heats starting at 4 a.m. ET and finals at 7 a.m. ET.
