Hundreds of families in Surrey may receive complimentary grocery vouchers valued at £300 to assist with the cost of living. The initiative is part of the Household Support Fund provided by Surrey County Council to aid vulnerable households.
Residents of Surrey County Council can apply for the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher program if they are facing difficulties in purchasing food and necessities. These vouchers can be utilized at various supermarkets, including Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, The Food Warehouse, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.
To be eligible for the scheme, individuals must be 18 years or older, reside in Surrey, maintain household savings of £2,000 or less over a 90-day period, and have an annual household income below £27,007.50 before taxes and deductions.
Applicants are required to disclose their income details and any benefits received by their household. Voucher applications open on a monthly basis, with the upcoming round starting from February 3. If the current application window is missed, reapplication is possible from March 2. Residents outside Surrey are advised to inquire with their local council for available support options.
For instance, Nottingham City Council is distributing £100 vouchers to low-income individuals or those on benefits. The council is in the process of dispatching these vouchers, with an expected completion date by February 28, 2026.
The distribution of 10,000 vouchers to eligible households by Wakefield Council will be conducted randomly, allowing previous recipients to reapply. Additionally, Wakefield Council is offering food vouchers to households receiving council tax assistance.
Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support were given a £70 voucher in November, with additional vouchers planned for other households. Families receiving Council Tax Support will receive a £50 voucher starting December 15, while other supported households will receive a £70 voucher between December 3 and December 12.
Blackpool Council is providing £200 towards energy assistance for eligible households with one or two members and £300 for households with three or more members, including children. Applicants must demonstrate financial hardship and difficulties in bill payments, necessitating the submission of recent bank statements for all household members.
