Police are urging individuals who possess dashcam recordings of a multiple-vehicle crash that harmed 13 individuals on Highway 99 on Friday afternoon to step forward. The Surrey Police Service (SPS) disclosed on Saturday that a semi-truck, traveling northbound on the 12200-block of Highway 99 in Surrey, collided with three sedans also heading northbound. The truck then veered, struck the median dividing the north and southbound lanes, and entered the southbound traffic, hitting another sedan and a bus.
Visuals from the incident reveal the semi-truck colliding with a double-decker TransLink bus carrying around 50-60 passengers. SPS Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton suspects that there might be individuals possessing dashcam footage not yet shared with the authorities. He emphasized that numerous cars were present in the vicinity at the time and encouraged those with relevant footage to provide it to the SPS, as digital evidence could be crucial in the investigation.
Houghton acknowledged that some footage had been shared with local media or on social platforms, but stressed the importance of sharing it directly with the SPS. As per SPS reports, two individuals were hospitalized with severe injuries, while 11 others were hospitalized with minor injuries but in stable condition. Houghton confirmed on Saturday that all individuals have since been discharged from the hospital.
