Survivors of a harrowing plane landing emergency in Prince George, B.C., where one person lost their life and multiple others were injured, are recounting their experiences. Jaime Pawliuk recalled how he was on his way to work when he suddenly saw the plane heading towards him. He described the moment when the aircraft was directly above him, forcing him to swerve into a ditch. Despite sustaining minor cuts on his hands and having glass in his hair from the impact that sheared off the top of his vehicle, Pawliuk managed to escape the ordeal.
The incident involved a twin-engine Beech King Air 200 plane that made an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard, a busy road connecting various residential areas in Prince George. While police confirmed that at least two vehicles were affected, eyewitnesses and images suggest that more vehicles were damaged, with Pawliuk estimating between three to five directly impacted cars. Due to the ongoing investigation, he and others had to abandon their vehicles at the scene.
Video footage from inside the plane revealed that there were six passengers and two pilots aboard, all of whom escaped unharmed. However, ten individuals were evaluated for injuries, with two individuals hospitalized in stable condition and one fatality, believed to be from a vehicle struck by the plane.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police stated that the Transportation Safety Board has assumed control of the investigation.
