A 36-year-old woman from Hamilton is charged with careless driving causing bodily harm following an incident where she allegedly lost control of her SUV and severely injured a 54-year-old man at a bus shelter. The Hamilton Police Service revealed the charges after completing their investigation into the collision that took place on September 1.
The incident occurred on June 25 in the afternoon at the intersection of King Street W. and Dundurn Street N. According to police, the woman was exiting the Tim Hortons plaza parking lot when her vehicle collided with the man at the bus shelter, resulting in significant injuries for the victim.
Photographs taken at the scene depict the SUV positioned on the sidewalk, partially inside the bus shelter, with some of the shelter’s glass walls broken and two bench seats damaged. King and Dundurn streets, where the collision happened, are known as one of the busiest intersections in the city, with several bus stops serving multiple routes.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information about the incident to reach out to the collision reconstruction office or Crime Stoppers for assistance.
