A young individual accused of being a co-conspirator in a planned terrorist attack targeting Jewish individuals has been convicted of committing a terrorist offense and aiding a terrorist activity. The verdict was delivered on Friday, clearing the individual of a separate charge related to facilitating terrorist activity through the distribution of instructional material and propaganda in late 2023.
The individual, a resident of Ottawa, was apprehended in February 2024 at the age of 15. Another teenager from Ottawa was also recently found guilty of four charges in an unconventional one-day trial that allows for potential appeals. Due to standard regulations safeguarding the anonymity of young individuals facing charges, the identities of both teenagers cannot be disclosed to the public.
