“Teenager Abducted and Dismembered in Gangland Killing”

A teenager, aged 17, left a chilling final message for his mother before he was abducted and dismembered in a brutal gangland killing. The tragic murder of Keane Mulready-Woods in 2020 shocked Ireland, causing widespread shock and horror. Involved in a drug feud in Drogheda, the teenager was lured to a house on January 12, where he faced torture and beheading. His body parts were later found strewn in different locations, with his head, hands, and feet discovered in a burnt car in Dublin. The aftermath of Keane’s killing led to a series of retaliatory attacks, ultimately resulting in the death of the prime suspect, Robbie Lawlor, who was shot dead while collecting a drug debt.

Before his disappearance, Keane contacted his mother, informing her he would be home late and requesting money for a taxi. As a runner for a local gang, Keane was under a curfew to return home before dark, a rule he had been obediently following. At the time of his demise, Keane was on probation after being found guilty of threatening a local mother regarding drug debts owed by her child. Lawlor reportedly believed Keane was involved in the death of his brother-in-law and orchestrated the brutal killing.

Lawlor was suspected of torturing Keane, escalating the violence beyond a mere punishment beating for a minor drug debt. The 36-year-old criminal had a history of violence, with numerous convictions. After being acquitted of attempted murder, Lawlor faced retaliation from individuals linked to his alleged victims. The events culminated in a violent assault outside a gym, where Lawlor’s belongings were stolen and shared on social media as a form of taunting. Keane was believed to be present during the incident, further fueling Lawlor’s thirst for revenge.

In 2023, Paul Crosby and Gerard “Rocky” Cruise were sentenced to jail terms for their roles in facilitating Keane’s murder, while a third individual, Gerard ‘Ged’ McKenna, admitted to tampering with evidence at the crime scene. Keane’s mother, Elizabeth, expressed profound grief and disbelief in a victim impact statement, highlighting the horror and trauma inflicted by her son’s barbaric death. She lamented her inability to protect him, emphasizing the lasting pain and nightmares endured by their family.
